Wall visual using of the names of the students to reveal a portrait of Maria Montessori. The piece coincided with the a renovation of the Amsterdam Montessori School.

The characters that make up the names vary in width creating dark and light areas
At a distance the student’s names are illegible and the portrait of Maria Montessori is visible
The characters of the typeface consist of a set of vector points. The resulting lines increase in weight depending on the brightness of the underlying image. The scale of the character is decreased in relation to its weight.
A simple program made in Processing exported the vectors as a PDF so it could be prepped for print in Illustrator
